This Wednesday, February 16, 2022, an Internet user reports on Tweeter to the press and to the town hall of Annecy, his sad discovery: “I discovered a duck lying on its side. He was cut open in the stomach, with feathers everywhere. »
If he did not witness the scene, the day before, this Tuesday, February 15, this Annecien did indeed attend the pursuit of a swan by a dog without a leash on the Pâquier: “I was riding my bike, and from a distance, I saw a dog chasing a swan. The swan narrowly managed to flee towards the lake. The dog stopped and didn’t go into the lake, thankfully. But this swan or another came back on the Pâquier, and again, the dog started running behind the swan. I intervened. I have a dog, so I’m used to, I would say, give a few commands. The dog calmed down and went to his mistress. »
After witnessing these two events, he says he was moved: “When you see it, it’s really very impressive. The swan fighting for its survival, the last time the swan was killed… These are quite shocking scenes and yet I’m an adult so I don’t imagine for children…”
For the Internet user, a first solution to these repeated attacks would be an information campaign along the Pâquier, signs that would remind dog owners of these issues. He explains : “If the dogs were tethered they would be preserved swans and ducks. »
He also explains that keeping your dog on a leash on the Pâquier would be necessary for everyone: “You can know your dog very well and think he won’t do that. His teacher [la propriétaire du chien de l’attaque de mardi 15 février] attributed to me that he did not usually behave like this and that he did not trigger. Everyone has something to gain from having this awareness and information campaign: swans and ducks, but also dogs and their owners. »
