Austria: Vienna, Saturday ecumenical prayer for peace in Ukraine in St. Stephen’s Cathedral
Also in Vienna we pray for peace in Ukraine: card. Christoph Schönborn and the Ordinariate for the faithful of the Eastern Catholic Churches in Austria invited the Austrian faithful to an ecumenical prayer for Ukraine on Saturday in St. Stephen’s Cathedral at vespers. Among others, the apostolic nuncio, Msgr. Pedro Lopez Quintana. A Russian military invasion “would cause numerous victims,” the Vicar General of the Ordinariate of the Eastern Church Yuri Kolasa told the Catholic news agency Kathpress today. The conflict does not only concern Ukraine, but the security of all of Europe is at risk. “In addition to all diplomatic efforts, another effort will always remain the most powerful and hopeful: common prayer”. Kolasa said he was convinced “that prayer is essential to resolve the crisis linked to the aggression against Ukraine”. “It takes prayer to change hearts and open them to constructive dialogue”. The vicar general also referred to Pope Francis, who has repeatedly expressed his will for Ukraine and invited the powerful of the world to resolve the crisis through “a serious dialogue and not with arms”.
