Why the Stade Louis-II is an (almost) impregnable fortress
Undefeated in their backyard since September 11, AS Monaco players have posted remarkable statistics this season at home, in all competitions. The proof in numbers.
They have not experienced defeat in the Principality since 11 September! After this latest defeat in Ligue 1 against Olympique de Marseille, the Red and Whites have made the Stade Louis-II a kind of Fort Alamo. Whether in the league or in the Europa League and more recently in the Coupe de France, AS Monaco indeed displays impressive statistics in its den of Fontvieille.

Two qualifications obtained at home
Thus, Alexander Nübel’s teammates have remained undefeated in their last 14 home outings, all competitions included, totaling eleven victories over the period and above all clean sheets! A solidity which notably allowed the Azureans to qualify for the knockout stages of the C3 by beating Real Sociedad, then 2nd in La Liga, at the foot of the Rock (2-1). But also to reach the semi-finals of the Coupe de France last week, thanks to a serious victory won against Amiens (2-0).
4th assessment of the elite in the Principality
But it is in Ligue 1 that Monegasque domination is most striking. Currently, Philippe Clément’s men can be satisfied with having the 4th record of the elite at home. With seven victories already gleaned in 13 games and 25 points taken in all in the Principality since the start of the season, AS Monaco is only ahead of PSG (34), Lyon (26) and Rennes (also 25, with a best goal average). Above all, the goal difference of the Reds and Whites is largely in excess at the Stade Louis-II (+14).
Captain’ Wiss in his garden
A success that bears, among other things, the name of a man: Wissam Ben Yedder! The Monegasque captain indeed marked 11 of his 14 league goals and delivered three of his four assists, in his garden in Fontvieille. He is also involved in 75% of his team’s goals in Ligue 1 in 2022 (6/8, 4 goals and 2 assists): no player whose teams have scored at least two goals since the start of the year does better, as specified our partner Opta.
6 – Wissam Ben Yedder is the most decisive player in Ligue 1 in 2022, being involved in 6 goals (4 goals, 2 assists). He is a scorer and a decisive passer in the same game for the third time this season, no player has done better. Royal. #ASMOL pic.twitter.com/L7BrYGP34x

Two convincing successes against Rennes and Lyon
It is therefore not for nothing that ASM has been in vain on its land for ten games now in the elite (7 wins, 3 draws). Before sharing the points against Lorient, Monaco had also won its last four receptions in Ligue 1, its longest series since September-December 2019 (6), still according to the statistics specialist. Including two against direct competitors in European places: Stade Rennais (2-1) and Olympique Lyonnais (2-0).
A dynamic that we will now have to try to install outside with the return of the opposing parks, to pursue the podium objective at the end of the season. DAGHE MUNEGU!! 🇲🇨
