San Marino. Beccari: “Russia-Ukraine crisis: war is absolutely to be avoided”
The Secretary of State Luca Beccari intervenes on the Russia-Ukraine crisis.
The Republic of San Marino endorses the appeals to avert a Russian-Ukrainian conflict, firmly associating itself with the efforts of the international community to promote political solutions for a complete de-escalation of tensions between the Parties.
The Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Luca Beccariintervenes in these hectic hours for the two countries involved, for Europe and the entire international community, for the reasons of dialogue and political mediation, always and in any case invoked and strongly reaffirmed by a Republic that founds in peace and principles of neutrality activates the cornerstones of one’s own political identity.
For the Republic of San Marino, a war, of any size and nature, is absolutely to be avoided, as it would result in unbearable human challenges, destruction, security of rights and concern for peace and peace, in Europe and in the world. For this reason the Secretary of State Beccari considers all ongoing negotiations to be necessary and urgent, hoping that they will not be interrupted until a peaceful result is reached. Beccari we also acknowledge the utmost attention of the diplomatic representatives of the Republic at the multilateral fora where dedicated meetings and talks are taking place, especially in the OSCE context, who have been asked to reiterate, where possible, the position of the Republic of San Marino .
A position that is further supported, in these hours, also by the declarations of the Secretary General of the United Nations, who verbatim reiterates that “there is no alternative to diplomacy. All questions, including the most intractable, can and must be addressed and resolved through diplomatic structures. I firmly believe that this principle will prevail. As Secretary-General of the United Nations, it is my duty to appeal to full compliance with the Charter of the United Nations, which is fundamental to international law. “
Likewise, the Secretary of State Beccari shares the strong call for peace, ceaselessly invoked by Pope Francis, who never tires of raising his voice towards the assumption of an appeal of full “responsibility for peace”, defining war as madness and asking those responsible to put forward the interest common to that of the Parties.
In this spirit, the Head of San Marino foreign policy supports the numerous and concrete demonstrations for peace that are taking place in numerous countries; in this regard, in the wake of the deep friendship that binds San Marino to the Community of Sant’Egidio, the Republic is also ideally associated with the initiatives it has initiated, as an act of realism and testimony in favor of a peaceful resolution.
