one more dog in Milwaukee, all while serving at the competition, we call that a nice shot
Already cut by the Nets following the transfer James Harden – Ben Simmons at the trade deadline, DeAndre ‘Bembry did not have to wait long before finding a team. Indeed, the former Nets player will bounce back to the Bucks if the latest news is to be believed.
As often, it’s Adrian Wojnarowski fromESPN who broke the news. A free agent since the Nets decided to let him go last Thursday, Bembry will become defending champion and will thus know his fourth team after Atlanta, Toronto and Brooklyn. The deal is not yet official for the moment but it will become so in a few hours, DeAndre’ (important the apostrophe at the end) currently making the trip to Milwaukee to finalize everything. Turning this season to 5.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1 steal per game in 20 minutes of play, the 27-year-old winger and 1m96 is not the one who will come to ignite the statistics but he showed the Nets just how valuable he could be, especially defensively. The guy can indeed be quite reluctant in his own half of the field and we like the intensity with which he intensifies, he who notably helped Steve Nash’s group to exceed expectations in defense at the start of the season. Aggressive, rather athletic, present on the rebound, and interesting when it comes to moving without the ball to create offensive opportunities (almost 57% shooting success this season), Bembry is defined as the kind of player who can help a collective moving in the shadows.
No wonder the Bucks jumped at the chance, and it would allow DeAndre to play again with a team that lives for nothing but the NBA championship ring. Currently deprived of Pat Connaughton for a hand injury (normally a month’s absence) as well as George Hill (also in the infirmary for a sore neck) and of course Brook Lopez (back), the Bucks have necessary to add a guy from Bembry’s profile, especially since they sacrificed full-back Donte DiVincenzo at the deadline to secure the services of Serge Ibaka in the event that Lopez would not be available for the end of season. As Woj points out, Milwaukee still has two roster spots after Bembry’s arrival and the buyout market is looming, which means the Daims may not be done with their business. The name of Goran Dragic – fresh off the hook from Spurs – is already being rumored, with the Bucks among the main candidates to host the Dragon soon.
Nice little signing for the defending champions, and a great opportunity for DeAndre ‘Bembry after his experience at the Nets. But if the ambitions are the same in Brooklyn as in Milwaukee, evaluated in a franchise without drama and where everyone evolves full-time, it risks destabilizing Dede a little at first. However, there is no doubt that he could make his contribution to the Bucks for the defense of the title won last season.
