Boost your career with the Junior Chamber of Economics mentoring program
The Young Economic Chamber of Monaco (JCEM) is committed to young entrepreneurs, managers and employees with a unique mentoring program.
This was one of the objectives of the Junior Chamber for 2022. To set up a free system where young entrepreneurs, executives or employees would be in the Principality likely to benefit from the knowledge and experience of their confirmed peers.
Directly linked to the “business development” division of the JCEM, the mentoring commission was finally created, after a year of preparation. Ideally, 15 mentees and 15 mentors will be brought together to form around thirty pairs.
What is mentoring for?
” It is a solidarity and voluntary initiative for learning and sharing knowledge and skills.explains Fabien Marie, the commission’s 2022 project manager. On the one hand, we have the mentee, looking for guidance and support in his professional and personal steps, and on the other, the mentor: a more experienced person, who wishes to make his experience and expertise available to help a mentee involved in the Monegasque economic scheme. »
To be mentored, candidates must be managers or employees in Monaco, or young entrepreneurs whose company is domiciled in the Principality: “ Our goal is to support new generations to face the challenges of today and tomorrow by sharing skills, but also networking. The network opens significant doors and in Monaco, we know how important it is! »
Two six-month sessions will be organized each year; the first will begin during the month of March. Mentees will be matched with mentors by Junior Chamber.
But once formed, there is no question of leaving the pairs to fend for themselves! The JCEM is keen to ensure follow-up, so that the experiences are enriching for the participants. ” We stay in touch with the mentee, to see if everything is going well. We will make sure that there are many exchanges between the pairs. We recommend 15-20 minutes of phone calls per week and one face-to-face meeting per month. Ideally, once Junior Chamber moves out of context, the relationship is meant to be long-lasting and continue to grow “says Fabien Marie.
And to ensure this follow-up and sustainability, the Junior Chamber will first of all ensure that the right pair is created, according to the interests and expectations of the mentees. This is why each application is studied carefully, so that the profiles are compatible. And to promote the first contact, the Junior Chamber organizes a private event and provides advice so that the relationship goes well over the long term.
A charter will also be put in place, to frame the program and recall the essential points to be respected. ” Committed mentors need to be willing to make time for this relationship. Mentees should also not harass mentors and remember that they have quite a busy schedule. We must remain in this voluntary and benevolent approach of mentoring, and not fall into consulting or pure coaching. »
For the moment, about ten pairs have been formed, but it is always possible to register as a mentor or mentee. on the JCEM website.
