Through Isabelle Villi
Little Annabelle decided to come into the world somewhere other than the clinic. It is at the fire station of Franqueville-Saint-Pierreon the eastern plateau of Rouen (Seine-Maritime) that she indeed uttered her first cry on January 14, 2022. On February 12, the little family was back at the rescue center, to thank the firefighters of their help.
When they left their home on January 14 to go to the Mathilde clinic in Rouen for the birth of their child, Clémence Lavie and Thomas Dodelin surely did not imagine that their journey would stop at Franqueville-Saint-Pierre. , at the fire station. It was indeed there that little Annabelle decided to let out her first cry. The little girl of almost a month has returned to the place of her birth, with her parents, in order to show the firefighters friendship and gratitude. All the firefighters who helped them at this important moment in their lives were present, alongside the acting head of the center, Lieutenant Thomas Andrieu, and the deputy mayor Victoria Pacheco for this emotional moment…
The princess of the day
This time, it was in her pram that Annabelle entered the barracks and as on the day of her birth, she was the princess of the day, the one to whom all attention turned. “We wanted to come back today to thank you. It was reassuring to know that you thought there when Annabelle was born, ”expressed Clémence, who has changed a lot to have time to arrive in Rouen to give birth on January 14 to her second child. Only here, it was counting without traffic at rush hour and Thomas, the dad, seeing that he would not be able to get out of traffic jams made the decision to turn off towards the barracks, without panicking.
Luckily for the family, there were a lot of people at the barracks, which is not always the case, depending on the on-call duty or departures for intervention. “I gave birth really quickly, in five minutes! Fortunately Thomas stopped at the barracks, otherwise I would surely have given birth in the car”, smiles Clémence, who recalls that the same morning, she had gone to the maternity ward but as “the labor was not yet advanced enough she had gone home.
An unforgettable day for firefighters
For the firefighters who welcomed the couple, it is also a moment that remains forever etched in their memory, a rather “unusual” moment as Lieutenant Thomas Andrieu describes it. “It’s true that births in a barracks are not that frequent,” smiles the acting head of the center, who recalls, however, that firefighters are trained to manage any type of situation. But the firefighters of this January 14, namely Fabien (Chief Warrant Officer), Céline (Chief Corporal), Bastien (Firefighter), Jason (Chief Corporal) and Valentin (Corporal), confide themselves that they will not soon forget this extraordinary moment.
After giving birth to little Annabelle, the firefighters handed over to a medical team from the SMUR (Mobile Emergency and Resuscitation Service): the latter took charge of the mother and the baby to bring them to the clinical. Last Saturday, the firefighters were in any case very happy to be able to meet again alongside Clémence, Thomas and Annabelle, for a souvenir photo… almost a family photo in short. A story that the parents of the little girl will surely want to tell her, when she is older and they tell her the circumstances of her birth. In any case, she is the joy of her family and her big brother Mathéo, 5 years old… In the meantime, for her return to the barracks, she did not worry about all this ceremonial around her, busy doing her Siesta.
