Farmers mobilized in front of the refinery
“Victim of globalization, the agricultural profession cannot compensate for this price increase, which constitutes our, an excess of costs, as much for the farmers as for the rest of the consumers”, deplores the union.
The place was not chosen at random. Contacted by Toulouse News, Elodie Doumeng, the president of Young Farmers in Haute-Garonne explains that this mobilization will serve to signal “the increase in raw materials and in particular GNR, but also the increase in fertilizer which depends on oil prices, just like tires”.
“We cannot pass on the increase to our sales”
According to the trade unionist, these increases cannot be compensated by an increase in the prices of the products sold.
“We cannot pass them on to the sale of our products since we depend on the world price. Today, we cannot make a cereal price that could allow us to produce a sufficient gross margin, ”she laments.
Protesters are called to join the Lespinasse refinery from 9 a.m. on Thursday February 17. “The goal is to gather at the refinery. There will be a few tractors to create the blockage, but after that there will be no blockages of public roads or traffic congestion,” concluded Elodie Doumeng.
