Carlow’s Aoife Kelly called up to Republic of Ireland Under-17 squad for Switzerland friendly
St. Patrick’s Carlow player Aoife Kelly was named on the The Republic of Ireland squad is upon us Switzerland in two international friendlies.
It’s part of their preparation for the qualifiers for the second round of the UEFA European WU17 Championship.
After leading their group to the top of the qualifying round last year, Ireland are looking to regain that momentum and a trip to the Oliva Nova Complex in Valencia, Spain should help.
Head coach James Scott has called up midfielder Sophie Morrin for the first time, playing for Liverpool, while a number of players brought on for Ireland’s U16 women’s team against Portugal last month are also included.
Scott knows everything is geared towards the qualifiers against Slovakia, Finland and Iceland later in the month but this doubles game should get them back up to speed.
