Toulouse: a patient from the Gérard Marchant psychiatric hospital found in the middle of the street by the police
A patient from the Gérard Marchant Hospital Center was found by the police. This man taken care of in a psychiatric unit walked freely in the streets of Toulouse.
A patient from the Gérard Marchant psychiatric hospital was tracked down and then found by the general service of the police in the right bank sector. This man of Romanian origin had left the establishment with a dressing gown on his back. The police were alerted around 10:30 this Sunday, February 13, they apprehended him an hour later, without violence.
In the space of a month, at least five patients managed to escape the vigilance of the doctors and staff of the Marchant hospital and the psychiatric department of Purpan.
The series began on January 19. That day, a 34-year-old former soldier nicknamed the “cannibal of the Pyrenees” did not return to his room. And he took the opportunity to attack a 72-year-old woman who was walking her dog in a residential area of Toulouse. This man was indicted in 2013 for intentional homicide and acts of cannibalism.
The law of series
Four days later, a 48-year-old individual, involved in a homicide in 2010, also fled before being arrested by the anti-crime brigade, route de Seysses. Then, a third psychiatric patient escaped from the CHU Purpan, before being found a few hours later in the city center to be taken back to the hospital. It was he who in 2017 deliberately ran into three Chinese students driving his car, road from Granada to Blagnac.
Finally, on January 28, a man in his forties, author of a violation but deemed criminally irresponsible, had taken advantage of a moment of inattention from the staff to faint in nature. He was apprehended a day later in Paris.
As a reminder, in mid-January, the Occitanie Regional Health Agency asked the management of this hospital to open an administrative investigation and send a report on the circumstances of these events.
