Reale Mutua Fenera Chieri ’76 slips 3-1 in Rome
Second consecutive 3-1 away defeat for Reale Mutua Fenera Chieri ’76. After losing with this score already two Sundays ago in Busto Arsizio, the biancoblù also surrender to the PalaEur in Rome against Acqua & Sapone Roma Volley Club.
The result deservedly rewards the hosts who over the four together play better than biancoblù, with a superiority in all fundamentals except the wall certified by the statistics at the end of the match. Under pressure from the service and the excellent work in the wall-defense of the capitoline, the girls from Bregoli return home with more than a few regrets: even if they struggled a lot to find and maintain the pace, in the first two fractions they did not use three set balls (one in the first set and two in the second) before yielding in both cases 26-24. Won the third set 21-25 with a winning paw in the final, in the fourth set there was no match.
In the final scoreboard stand out the 27 points of Klimets and 16 of Trnokova (6 of which on the block), winner of the MVP. On the Chieri side, the best scorer is Cazaute with 17 points.

The chronicle
First set – After an excellent start (1-4, Grobelna), Reale Mutua Fenera Chieri ’76 suffered a break at 7-5 on Bugg’s serve. The error in the serve by the setter returns to move the biancoblù score. A point-to-point phase follows up to 14-14 when Mazzaro’s first half and two walls by Weitzel give Chieri 14-17. The Chieresi up to +3 up to 18-21. Stigrot’s attacks and Trnkova’s services overturn the score in 22-21. Guest counter at 22-23 on ace from Cazaute, then Mazzaro’s first half yielded 23-24. The set ball is canceled by Stigrot. Followed by Archpriest’s wall on Grobelna and an attacking error by Weitzel that closed the fraction 26-24.
Second set – Chieri immediately takes several points, so much so that on 3-9 coach Mafri runs out of time-outs. The host advantage touches the maximum of 8 points on 6-14, after the correction of Mazzaro’s video check on the wall initially given out. After the entry of Pamio for Archpriest (8-15) Rome halves the delay going back to 12-16. The biancoblùs return to +6 after another correction of the video check, following an attack by Cazaute (12-18). The inertia, however, remains in the hands of the capitoline who draw at 21 on a winning service from Pamio. Two blazes from Mazzaro, on the wall and on service, bring Chieri to 21-23, then Perinelli signs on 22-24. The next two exchanges are the prerogative of Rome, which then moves forward 25-24 with Cecconello after a hard-fought exchange. Finally, Klimets’ wall on Perinelli is worth 26-24.
Third set – The set is a tight point to point until 17-17, when Villani (who entered 14-14 in place of Perinelli), Grobelna and Cazaute twice pushed Chieri to 17-21. Rome gets closer to 21-23 but, after Bregoli’s time-out, an error in the service and Mazzano’s first half end the fraction 21-25. In the statistics stands the newfound attacking streak of Grobelna, here the author of 7 points after scoring just 3 in the first two sets.
Fourth set – Start of sets in fits and starts: 4-0, 4-4, 8-4. On 9-5 Rome makes a new extension to 13-6 and its advantage is unbridgeable for the Chieri, who do not benefit from the entries of Armini, Alhassan and Bonelli. The advantage of the hosts touches the maximum gap of 12 points on 21-9. On 24-14 Cazaute cancels the first match ball, in the following action the first half of Cecconello brings down the credits on the dispute.
The comment
Elena Perinelli: «Congratulations to Rome because they played a wonderful match, doing very well in the wall-defense and certainly beating well. We have made too many mistakes and we have not exploited the advantages that I aim for ».
