Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov described Russia’s relations with the West using the Russian proverb “You can’t be forced to be nice.” He stated this RIA News on Sunday, February 13th.
Peskov clarified that Russia is a country that cooperates with everyone.
“We are interested in discussing issues related to the European meetings. We are interested in coordinating with the States – both in the trade and economic sphere, and in investments, and on security issues. But you won’t be forced to be nice. Therefore, of course, Russia will look for opportunities for interaction where it sees reciprocity,” he said.
The Kremlin spokesman also added that this is an absolutely normal practice, “with a lack of communication on one, let’s say, flank, it is compensated by communication on the other flank.” According to him, this happens in all states, “including him and Russia.”
Earlier, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, announced the unification of the West in the election commission, for her speech, no reason is needed.
