For the first time in 12 years, Ukraine will be represented in the men’s mastart at the 2022 Olympics
Ukraine represents two Ukrainians in the race with a mass start.
The full list of participants of the men’s start of the 2022 Biathlon Olympics has been determined. Following the results of the men’s pursuit race, the next two Ukrainians can qualify for the mass start.
The men’s first had 15 more participants in the race from the mass start. Previously, the top 15 of the overall standings of the World Cup before the 2022 Olympics got there.
The winner of the mass start was the Frenchman Kanten Fillon-Maye, thanks to four “zeros” on the firing line ahead of the Norwegian Tarje Bo. The best Ukrainian, Dmytro Pidruchny, cannot improve his position. At the finish he repeated his result in the sprint and took 13th place.

However, Ukraine will be represented by two representatives. And this is the best result in 12 years.
Who qualified for the 2022 Olympics?
In addition to the top 15 of the overall standings “World Cup”, participation in the mastart at the “2022 Olympics” could be guaranteed in two ways: to win a medal in one of three races (individual race, sprint, Persian) or choose the highest number of points for these starts .
All medalists of the 2022 Olympics are in the top 15 of the Cult of the World overall standings. accordingly, another 15 places were determined based on the results of performances on three features of the start in Beijing.
Thus, Dmytro Pidruchny and Artem Prima represent Ukraine in the 2022 Olympics. And this is the best result since 2010: in 2014 and 2018, Ukraine was not represented in this type of race.

What is known
- Neither Artem Prima nor Dmytro Pidruchny is a big start at the Winter Olympics. For both of these biathletes, Beijing 2022 is the third Olympics in their careers.
- Ukraine was last represented in the men’s mastart at the 2010 Olympic Games. Then Serhiy Sednev and Andriy Derizemlya, who took the 21st and 26th place, respectively, were selected for the race.
- Dmytro Pidruchny was supposed to perform in the master start at the stage in Annecy, but instead remained in the assembly with the team in Italy to prepare for the 2022 Olympics. In the 2020/21 season, Podruchny had three mastards (the best result was 20th place in Oberhof).
- Prima last competed in the mastart at the 2021 World Cup. Then he took 21st place.
