RTL Today – Justice in Luxembourg: Mayor of Wiltz, Fränk Arndt, targeted by two investigations
The Diekirch Public Prosecutor’s Office announces the opening of two investigations aimed in particular at the mayor of Wiltz, for a case of corruption and a case of “illegal” work.
As part of investigations into two illicit landfills in the municipality of Wiltz, the police found possible evidence of criminal offenses involving the mayor of Wiltz. As a result, two judicial inquiries have been opened by the Diekirch prosecutor’s office.
The first concerns a possible case of corruption in connection with real estate transactions, in which the mayor, a promoter, a construction company and unexposed persons would be involved.
The second case concerns work carried out in a private cottage, during which the Nature Protection Act was violated. In this context, searches took place on February 9 at the Municipal Administration of Wiltz, at the premises of the Center for Initiative and Regional Management Wiltz Plus, at the headquarters of a real estate development company and at the private residence of one person.
In November of last year, the Lëtzebuerger must reported possible illegal work at a mayor’s cottage. This press release published by the Prosecutor’s Office of Diekirch this Saturday lifts the veil on his identity.
The Diekirch public prosecutor’s office nevertheless recalls the principle of the presumption of innocence: “any person subject to an investigation or criminal proceedings is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a final decision of the competent lower court.
In March last year, there had already been the first searches as part of the investigations into illegal denunciations in the municipality, in a construction company and in private homes.
Frank Arndt himself declined to comment on the matter at the request of RTL-Luxembourg.
