Bayern dress rehearsal for Salzburg with 2: 4 in Bochum next to it
Bayern Munich’s dress rehearsal for the round of 16 first leg of the Champions League on Wednesday in Salzburg went horribly wrong. The Munich documents on Saturday in the German Bundesliga despite an early lead at promoted VfL Bochum with 2: 4 (1: 4). Borussia Mönchengladbach, the team of coach Adi Hütter, managed a small liberation in the fight for relegation with a 3: 2 (1: 0) against FC Augsburg.
The Bayern lead by world footballer Rober Lewandowski was not uncontroversial because of a previous offside (9th). What follows is a fast, historic first half. Bayern last conceded more than three goals in the first 45 minutes in the league in 1975. This time there were four. In the first year after the departure of David Alaba, the Munich team seemed more vulnerable on the defensive. In the past five games, the series champion has only played once to zero.
Christopher Antwi-Adjei equalized (14′), Jürgen Locadia took the penalty for Bochum’s lead (38′). Dayot Upamecano had previously grabbed the ball. Two extraordinary goals follow. After half of Bayern’s back team had been duped with a “Gurkerl” and Fersler, Schloss Cristian Gamboa saved a valuable shot (40′). Four minutes later, Gerrit Hotmann flicked the ball into the far corner (44′).
“Take off the Bavarians’ lederhosen,” echoed through the Ruhr Stadium. For the Munich team, who started with the best line-up, it was the highest break deficit in the Bundesliga since November 2007 (0:3 against Stuttgart). Sven Ulreich, who replaced Manuel Neuer in goal, who had had an operation on the meniscus, was not to blame.
The Bochum team show Salzburg how to get to grips with the star ensemble from Munich. The newcomer expects an enormous fighting spirit and prevented a Lewandowski goal with their combined efforts (52nd). The Pole scored his 26th league goal of the season (75′), but his free kick in the finish landed on the crossbar (86′). Bochum brought the sensational victory over time. ÖFB team player Marcel Sabitzer was allowed to play the last 15 minutes at Bayern.
The first pursuer Borussia Dortmund could get the Munich team up to six points closer with a win at Union Berlin on Sunday. For Bayern it was the second defeat in five games since the Christmas break. At the start of spring they had already lost at home against Mönchengladbach (1:2).
The Gladbachers landed their first second win in the last ten league games – against a direct competitor. Goals from Kouadio Kone (30th), Jonas Hofmann (46th) and Ramy Bensebaini (67th) made coach Hütter a little more secure in the saddle the day after his 52nd birthday. Borussia expect four points between themselves and Augsburg, who are lying on the relegation place and who only managed to score twice. Stefan Lainer (Gladbach) and Michael Gregoritsch (Augsburg) were both replaced.
VfL Wolfsburg also managed to gain some breathing room in the relegation battle and is one point ahead of Gladbach after a 2-0 (1-0) win at Eintracht Frankfurt. The Wolfsburg were allowed to complain to Martin Hinteregger for a somewhat flattering victory. The ÖFB defender only lives at the edge of the penalty area Max Kruse. The Wolfsburg returnee pocketed the penalty himself (28′). In the end, Hinteregger, who lacked the consistency of previous years this season, served an unsuccessful header return to Wolfsburg’s Dodi Lukebakio, who struck from a tight angle (93′). Oliver Glasner’s Frankfurters only got four points from five rounds in the spring.
Freiburg and Mainz with the Austrians Philipp Lienhart and the strong Karim Onisiwo separated 1:1 (0:1). Greuther Fürth exacerbated Hertha BSC Berlin’s relegation concerns with a 2-1 (1-0) win. Fürth has only lost one of the last six games. With a nine-point deficit to Augsburg, the bottom group still has a long way to go to stay up in the league.
