Hanover (dpa / lni) – New round in the town hall affair about illegally paid allowances: Hanover’s former mayor Stefan Schostok has to answer to the court again today. The Federal Court of Justice had previously overturned an acquittal of the SPD politician from the allegation of infidelity. The case is also not known for his ex-office manager Frank Herbert: his conviction for fraud by omission was also overturned and referred back to the Hanover Regional Court for a hearing. Six continuation dates are planned for the revision process (Ref.: 46 KLs 18/21).
The affair is about allowances of around 49,500 euros, which the office manager and chief lawyer Herbert received illegally between April 2015 and May 2018. Since October 2017, Schostok is said to have been aware of the illegality of the allowance, but has not stopped it. In the course of the affair, he resigned as mayor of the state capital.
