City of Salzburg – Culture Committee: Medium-term funding for Salzburg Marionette Theater decided
Eight items were on the agenda of the culture, education and sports committee chaired by Karoline Tanzer/ ÖVP on Thursday, February 10, 2022. Due to the corona, the committee met again in the Salzburg town hall.
- The Salzburg Marionette Theater will receive the following funding in the coming years as part of the “funding agreement for the medium-term financing of cultural institutions”:
2022: 190,000 euros/ 2023: 193,800 euros/ 2024: 197,676 euros (final decision by the municipal council). - Annual or project funding for 16 cultural institutions totaling 139,500 euros (apart from the funding of 10,000 euros for the dance office, decided unanimously – the FPÖ rejected it).
- Cultural funding for 2022 and another 44 cultural institutions totaling 898,400 euros (majority approved, some rejected by the FPÖ).
- Today, the peace office receives annual funding of 47,250 euros plus project funding of 10,000 euros for violence prevention workshops at city schools (majority against the FPÖ, final decision in the city senate).
- The policy office report “Fair Pay in Art and Culture”, which aims to promote a basis for fair payment schemes for those working in the cultural sector in the city of Salzburg, was discussed in detail. There WILL be an appointment coordinated with representatives of the state after the semester break.
- The FPÖ characteristics did not agree to the final report and roadmap of the project “Cultural Strategy Salzburg 2024”. However, they declared their willingness to vote on individual official reports in the future. The remaining exclusion members unanimously acknowledge the report.
- The committee unanimously took note of the second interim report on the city of Salzburg’s sports mission statement and the “Moving City” project.
