CdF: Nantes leaves Bastia and joins Monaco
the 02/10/2022 10:49 p.m.
Winner of Bastia (2-0), this Thursday, FC Nantes will play the semi-finals of the Coupe de France. The Canaries, who find themselves in the last four for the first time in three years, will challenge Monaco for a place in the final.
The meeting could not have started better for Nantes. After only 40 seconds of play, Kolo Muani was mowed down in the area by Saitani. Indisputable penalty that Blas transformed by sending a cannon shot under the bar (1-0, 3rd). Picked cold, the Bastiais reacted rather well. On a cross from the right, Santelli had to level up on his recovery from the penalty spot, but Descamps took out a reflex parade to keep his invincibility.
Uninhibited, the Corsicans raised more and more worries about their hosts. Descamps, again, had to work hard to fend off a header from Le Cardinal. A few minutes later, the PSG goalkeeper was very happy to see Vincent’s tense shot hit his right post. Before the break, he once again had to pull out all the stops to fend off two strikes from Santelli. A first period which was not easy for the FCN.
On returning from the locker room, the Nantes people tightened the screw, with a much sharper Pallois to try to intimidate the restless Salles-Lamonge. In Nantes, Simon managed to make a few differences but the few holes on the Nigerian wing ended in shots that were too imprecise. We had to wait for a handball from Placide on a fleeing center from Blas to see Kolo Muani double the lead and definitively seal the victory for the Canaries (2-0, 71st). See you at the beginning of March for the semi-final against Monaco.
