More paving, less grass. Modifications to the Anenský Triangle near Karlovy Lázně will begin
/ PHOTO GALLERY / In a few weeks, work will begin on the reconstruction of the Anensky Triangle near Karlovy Lázně. Most of the originally grassy patch is paved. Tram stops on the waterfront will also be modified.

According to the visualizations presented by the mayor of Prague 1, Petr Hejma (STAN), last week, a grassy mound will be created around the maple, where, according to him, people can walk dogs. One new tree will be planted next to it. In the meantime, the square will be paved. “There was a water element, a waterfall as if water were falling from the Vltava, a drinker, a mistletoe. This will create a green patch so that people can meet there as well, “Hejma described.
Hejm’s original project provided for the felling of a century-old maple so that he could dig a passage to the river. However, this provoked protests from the locals and the town hall had to withdraw from the felling. The fact that the city district reworked the project and delayed it by about a year cost the town hall coffers a lot, but Hejma did not say exactly. Originally, however, a thousand crowns of hundreds a month appeared for stopping the construction. “We pay the cost of having a fence so that the company does not run away from us. We stretch her in a terrible way. They didn’t throw the contract at us, but stayed put. It is in the regime of interrupted construction work, we bear the cost of the fence, with the tree remaining there, “said the mayor.
The ropes of the Barrandov Bridge are corroded, repairs will begin in May
It will be possible to reach the river on the steps of the embankment, which are also to be built this year. Later, when the silver maple survives, a tentacle is dug in its place.
However, the opposition from Prague 1 is not satisfied. According to Pavel Čižinský (Prague himself), a park was to be created on the site, not paving, as stated in the regulatory plans. “It’s nice to keep the maple. We demonstrated that. However, paving and abolishing greenery is illegal and contrary to what the citizens want, “the former mayor and opposition representative emphasized, adding that people in the city center do not want to pave the parks. “I understand that there used to be paving everywhere in the center, but there was no climate crisis then,” Čižinský remarked. According to his words, he will try to keep as much greenery as possible in the place before the work begins.
The iconic name of the Alcron Hotel is disappearing. A half-billion reconstruction awaits it
The project of revitalizing the Anensky Triangle dates from 2017. The management of the town hall, which arose from the elections in 2018, led by Pavel Čižinský, did not further develop the project. The plan, the cost of which was estimated at around 21 million crowns four years ago, was not dusted off until the new leadership, led by Hejma, which reached the town hall after the “coup” in January 2020.
In addition, the municipality, in coordination with Prague 1, will build a new tram stop at Karlovy Lázně, as so far trams have only stopped there in the opposite direction. The duplicate stop Národní divadlo na Smetanově nábřeží will be canceled and trams will be built in both directions on Masarykova nábřeží. All stops will be barrier-free, new tree lines will be planted on the waterfront and sidewalks will be widened.
