Giant clitoris against female circumcision rises in Brussels
GAMS Belgium (Group for the Abolition of Female Genital Mutilation) fights for a world without female genital mutilation, where the sexual and sexual integrity of everyone is realized.
More than 200 million girls and women worldwide are affected by female genital mutilation and it is still happening at home. In Belgium this concerns more than 25,000 girls and women, the vast majority of whom live in Flanders.
That is why this year they are setting up the fight against female circumcision with a clitoris on the Muntplein in Brussels. Because the vagina is not too often an unexposed organ, GAMS believes, and that is how they want to protect the interest.
The clitoris is often thought to be a small external organ. The logical part is about the size of a pea. But actually it is much bigger. Because most of it is inside. It has two long ‘legs’ (hard cavernous body) between which there are ‘cushions’ (soft cavernous body). On average, the clitoris is between 8 and 12 centimeters long.
The clitoris is surrounded by myths and prejudices. It often remains unknown to the general public, including those who have a clitoris. GAMS Belgium now wants to change that via #MeetYourClit and the landing clitoris in Brussels.
