Feast of the Holy Temple of the Three Hierarchs in Strasbourg
During the four days from January 29 to February 1, 2022, Metropolitan Dimitrios of France visited Strasbourg and the wider region of Alsace.
On Saturday, January 29, the Metropolitan of France blessed the New Year’s vasilopita for the children of the Greek school in Strasbourg.
He then presided over the Great Feast Vespers at the Holy Temple of the Three Holy Hierarchs in Strasbourg and spoke of the personality and work of these Great Fathers.
On Sunday January 30, day of the feast of the Three Hierarchs, the Metropolitan of France celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Holy Temple of Saint Thomas and spoke to the faithful about the common and particular traits of the Three Saints honored thus as in the message that the Church sends to the modern world through their common celebration. After the end of the Divine Liturgy, he blessed the vasilopita of the New Year of the Parish. On Sunday afternoon, he went to the Church of the Dormition of the Theotokos in Biscwiller to preside over vespers and cut the New Year’s vasilopita for the parish, which consists mainly of Greeks from Tenedos.
During his stay in Strasbourg, Metropolitan Dimitrios had the opportunity to meet the representative of the Holy See to the Council of Europe, Msgr. Marco Ganci, the Catholic Archbishop of Strasbourg, Msgr. Luc Ravel, the President of the Protestant Churches of Alsace Pasteur Christian Albecker, with the Ambassador of Greece in Strasbourg Panagiotis Beglitis, with the Ambassador of Cyprus in Strasbourg Spyridon Attas, with the Secretary General of the Council of Europe Despina Hadjivassiliou as well as with Greek students.
