Prague has selected a company to work for up to 110 million at new public transport stops
The city began exchanging stops at the end of last year and will last about two years. The original stops are owned by JCDecaux, which did not extend the contract with the municipality.
According to the THMP, the total price of one installation, including project work, is 150,000 to 180,000 thousand. Last year, the company chose a supplier for the shelters themselves, the price of one in the standard design is about 350 thousand crowns, including glass. So far, according to its director Tomáš Jílek, the company has completed about 30 stops and another 30 are divided. In total, the exchange concerns about 700 stops and the state has 834.8 million crowns.
At the last meeting of the city council, the chairman of the ANO club, Ondřej Prokop, and JCDecaux media representative Jiří Chvojka criticized the exchange. According to them, the work was delayed and Chvojka stated that the city could not manage the project and that JCDecaux would adhere to the original schedule, which is in the contract. This would make it impossible to move about 170 stops, which the city will not have time to replace in the first quarter of this year, to the second.
According to him, Jílek rejected the criticism, although the delay in the exchange occurred, it was caused by the supplier, who started the delivery at the end of January. According to him, this does not change the agreement with JCDecaux, which provided for similar events. According to him, the THMP are able to catch up in the spring, but the JCDecaux must cooperate and stop.
The Czech subsidiary of the French company JCDecaux operated hundreds of shelters in the metropolis under a 1994 contract, in exchange for their provision and maintenance, and the city can rent advertising on them. The contract expired at the end of last June, before which the city management decided to purchase their own furniture. In the past, the city announced a design competition for its appearance, and then had the prototype placed on Palackého náměstí. The transport company should start new stops in the future, but a final decision has not yet been made.
