a union had sounded the alarm in 2019
Following the surprising series of patient leaks at the Marchant hospital in Toulouse, the FO union reveals to have launched in vain two inspections of the establishment. First in 2019 then in 2021. He also says he filed a complaint against management for endangering the life of others.
Requests for inspection and complaint remained a dead letter
The FO union at the Marchant hospital is wondering today if the escape of Jérémie Rimbaud, the patient nicknamed the cannibal of Nouihan, is not part of a continuum of dysfunctions in the psychiatric hospital
A FO representative from the CHSCT reveals that he alerted the authorities in 2019 then in 2021 and twice requested an inspection of the establishment. The couriers sent to the ARS, to the Ministry of Health, to the General Inspectorate of Social Affairs and to the town hall of Toulouse reported serious malfunctions in terms of safety regulations and are, according to the trade unionist, remained a dead letter.
Since 2019, the union explains that it has reported many problems: related to the dangerousness of some patients, management’s refusal to organize extraordinary CHSCTs, but also problems of fire safety and problems of medical transport. Last August, he even filed a complaint with the police station for endangering the lives of others after an ambulance driver drove 2,000 km in a vehicle in poor condition, with defective pads, brake discs and shock absorbers.
The trade unionist hopes that the inspection will be declared 10 days ago all the light on the dysfunctions of the establishment.
