Super League – Toulouse Olympique has chosen its new captain – Rugby League
Toulouse Olympique made its new captain and vice-captain official today. The two men will be the leaders in the sustaining mission.
Toulouse have just revealed their captain for the coming season and it will be the French international Tony Gigot. The very experienced back or half and first Frenchman to be voted man of the match in the Challenge Cup final will have the mission of leading his teammates in the race to maintain the Super League. To accompany him, Sylvain Houles has chosen the pillar, which is also international English Maxime Puech. The two men will start their duties this weekend during the friendly match against the Catalans Dragons. Sylvain Houles explained his choice on the club’s website:
Tony is a great rugby player who has grown up well and is respected by everyone at the club. He has reached a very good level of maturity which will allow him to lead the team and achieve our objectives, including maintaining the highest level of European rugby league.
The Toulouse coach also had a word for Maxime Puech:
Since his arrival at the TO, we have been able to see over the years Max’s impact on the group and its leadership. With his logical mind, he understands how to move the group forward together and his mental strength makes him the ideal choice to support Tony.
