In Berlin, 16,677 schoolchildren are currently proven to be infected with the corona virus. The infection rate is 5.0 percent. There are also 1,856 employees, including teachers. This means that 4.6 percent of the workforce are currently infected and are therefore in isolation.
This emerges from statistics published on Friday by the Senate Education Administration. The rising trend in infections continued in schools – as in all other areas.
The number of infected students is a good 3,000 more than a week ago. The number of school employees with Corona rose by almost 400 within a week.
In 659 of 675 public schools providing general education, the corona traffic light is green according to the current phased plan. 16 are yellow – alternating classes or classes in smaller groups also apply there because of the number of infections.
Since testing is relatively frequent in schools, the picture conveyed by the statistics is considered realistic. Experts assume that the number of unreported cases is lower here than in many other areas. The incidence, also the number of infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days, is far higher in the school age groups than the city average.
