Letter to the Editor – Don’t rely on private information, apparently
Response to Urs Kindle on his letter to the editor in the “Liechtensteiner Volksblatt” of January 27, 2022:
Dear Urs Kindle,
You weren’t at my lecture on January 20th and yet you allowed yourself to throw massive accusations at me. You are accusing me of statements and attitudes that I have not taken at all.
All of the government’s proposals state that they want to strive for a parity order of religions in state church law. For the financing one would like to introduce a mandate tax. However, I was not involved in these drafts, and I presumably examined them critically in my lecture. Incidentally, the idea of the mandate tax was introduced by Martin Grichting and Markus Walser. You would have to address your sharp polemics to both of them. Personally, I would prefer a classic church tax. The mandate tax gives the religious communities no planning security. In the “Volksblatt” report of January 21, 2022, this point of my presentation was misrepresented.
I can only repeat what I have said to you several times on the phone: Do not rely on your private revelations. Seek dialogue with the great theological tradition. And come along next time when I give a lecture. But please leave your two demo boards at home. You take away from others the free view.
