CSO: Hungary’s population has fallen below 9.7 million
Twenty matching people died last year, the year before the coronavirus, according to the latest CSO report.
In 201, 155,000 people died, which was 9.92, 13,999 more than the previous year, and 20 crowns, 25,397, the 2019 last year before the virus outbreak. Last year, 9,000 children came into the world, 0.7 healthy, with 662 newborns more than in 2020. The number of births last in 2016 was so high. The total fertility rate per woman was estimated to be 1.59 compared to 1.56 by 2020.
However, the number of deaths has risen more than the number of births, resulting in a loss of 62,000 compared to 48,664 in 2020, an increase of 27 per cent.
In 201, 72,000 couples were married, which is 7.3 people, 4905 more than the previous one. The number of marriages was last so high in 1986. The greater desire to marry is due to subsidies such as the HUF 10 million baby waiting loan.
There were 9.6 live births and 16 deaths per thousand population last year. The rate of live births and deaths was 0.1 percentage points higher than in 2020, as a result of which natural weight loss increased by 1.4 percentage points and 6.4 percentage points. In 2021, there were 3.3 infant deaths per thousand live births, which is 0.2 percentage points less than before. The marriage rate was 7.4 per thousand, 0.5 percentage points higher than in the same period in 2020.
The positive balance of international migration moderated the population decline due to natural decline, as a result of which the estimated number of residents carried forward on the basis of the 2011 census was 9.689 million at the end of 2021, the CSO wrote.
