Closing of the elementary school of San Marino City “La Sorgente”, the class representatives write to the authorities
Open letter from the class representatives of the “La Sorgente” Elementary School of San Marino to the new director of the complex itself, Arianna Scarpellini, to the Secretary of State for Education, Andrea Belluzzi, and to the Director of the Education Department, Laura Gobbi, to find out the details on the closure of the school.
“On November 18, 2021 we delivered, as representatives of all the classes of the Elementary School ‘La Sorgente’, a letter to the new director of the elementary school, Dr. Arianna Scarpellini, and for information to the Secretary of State for Education , lawyer Andrea Belluzzi, and the director of the education department, Dr. Laura Gobbi. In the letter we requested a meeting with the doctor to find out about the progress of the project to close our school and the timing for its execution. Still no one has felt compelled to respond to our requests but we believe it is closing time to have news about all our legitimate questions, given that we are in the first quarter of the current school year.
In the letter we asked how it would proceed and the timing of the transfer, which could involve a class every year or all together next September and which will certainly also affect the didactic continuity of the pupils, given that this change will have consequences on the destinies of part of the teaching staff. We also asked to sacrifice how we thought of adapting the school structure of Murata, which, in order to host our exiles, should have all the common spaces and laboratories, converting them into classrooms; and if, even in this way, the classrooms will be able to contain, with adequate distances between the desks and the necessary escape routes, all the children of the Castle and of those who want to attend it even if they reside in other Castles. In our opinion, the closure of the laboratories and common spaces will sacrifice part of modern teaching and limit the activities that are particularly important for the intellectual growth of our children. Today we are also asking if all the necessary checks have been carried out to ensure adequate space also with regard to the refectory and the gym, not to mention the obvious criticality of the viability that will be created during the entrances and exits of the students.
In this particular pandemic period in which the distancing is destined, in which the use of public transport is not recommended, it seems to us a wicked forcing to want to amass many children together and form, also next year, a first class at the maximum numerical limit of the law.
In this uncertain uncertainty, the lack of a constructive vision and qualitative growth of our school structures is disconcerting, as if we want to focus on a further depopulation of our castle, instead of working for its promotion.
About two weeks ago, the secretary Belluzzi gave for certain the unification of the two complexes as early as next September, but he spoke about it to the Rtv cameras without feeling obliged to inform the directly concerned, and without any previous confrontation with the families. In the interview he mentions a future meeting with his parents, but we have not yet received any invitation. Therefore we hope to be summoned as soon as possible and we hope it will not be a press conference that already takes all the decisions taken for granted, like the one organized a year ago at the Titano Theater, but we can have a constructive and real confrontation. We look forward to a ‘kind’ reply ”.
