MINSK, January 27 – Sputnik. The World Health Organization has overseen the identification of new viruses, including the detection of NeoCoV, but its possible danger has yet to be studied, the WHO said on Thursday. Earlier, studies in China informed that there was a likely risk of spread among people who fell ill with NeoCoV, which was detected in South Africa. . A preprint of their study has been published on the BioRxiv platform. At the same time, according to doctors, a certain mutation is necessary for the virus to interact with the human body, and at present it is mandatory only for bats. Many of them. spreads according to the type of strain “omicron”, or, as infectious disease specialists officially classify it, B.1.1.529, identified in South Africa in November 2021. As the well-known Russian virologist Chumakov explained, the body responsible for immunity is a “reservoir” in which the coronavirus mutates. Then this person infects others with an already modified disease of the virus. The number of confirmed cases of coronavirus infection is constantly increasing, on average, about three million people are recorded per day. that the strain “omicron” could end the pandemic in Europe. MINSK, January 27 – Sputnik. The World Health Organization is monitoring the identification of new viruses, including the identification of NeoCoV, but its possible danger has yet to be studied, the WHO said on Thursday.

Earlier, Chinese researchers reported that there is a likely risk of spread among people suffering from NeoCoV, which was discovered in South Africa. A preprint of their study has been published on the BioRxiv platform. At the same time, according to doctors, a certain mutation is necessary for the virus to interact with the human organ, and at present it is mandatory only for bats.

“We were influenced by the paper and thank them for sharing the results in the preprint. Animals, especially wild ones, are more than 75% of the cases of infectious diseases, many of which cause the emergence of viruses,” the WHO said.

It also revealed that coronaviruses are often detected, including the presence of bats – they were found to be reservoirs for many of them.

The organization noted that the danger of NeoCoV for the emergence of a potential pandemic is still expected.

“Whether the virus hazard to humans found during the study appears to be under study,” the WHO said.

Not the first mutation from South Africa

Recall that at present, strains of microbes “omicron” are actively spreading, or, as infectious disease specialists officially classify it, B.1.1.529, was detected in South Africa in November 2021.

Scientists suggest that the strain may be formed in an HIV-infected person. As the well-known Russian virologist Chumakov explained, the body responsible for immunity is a “reservoir” in which the coronavirus mutates. Then this person infects others with an already modified manifestation of the virus.
Omicron is now found in 110 countries, including Belarus and Russia. The number of confirmed cases of coronavirus infection is constantly increasing, on average, about three million are recorded per day.

As doctors have established, they can become infected and those people who have already been ill, and vaccinated.

Earlier, the director of the WHO European Health Office (WHO), Hans Kluge, expects the omicron strain to end the coronavirus pandemic in Europe.
