Visit to the Republic of the Ambassador of Israel to San Marino, HE Dror Eydar
The visit to the Republic of the Ambassador of the State of Israel, Dror Eydar, continues, who in the morning was welcomed at Palazzo Begni by the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Luca Beccari. Following an in-depth survey on the current management of the pandemic, the broad and articulated comparison made it possible to retrace the most recent collaborations developed in the bilateral field and to relaunch new proposals in strategic sectors for both States, especially to follow up on the profitable official visit made by Secretary of State Beccari to Israel, which took place last November and which led to important political, technical and cultural implications. In this regard, Beccari received, through the Ambassador, the invitation to San Marino from the Israeli Minister of Foreign Affairs, confirming the existing friendship and fruitful collaboration. The Secretary of State underlined the strong interest in promoting forms of useful cooperation in the sectors of technological innovation, cybersecurity and health. Israel’s support in the energy and water treatment fields was also considered strategic; two sectors in which San Marino intends to invest and in which Israeli know-how is invaluable, thanks to advanced technologies and constant research. In this context, as well as in the cybersecurity sector, Israel can provide support for preventive regulatory compliance and subsequent implementation. The Secretary of State also proposed the possibility of defining agreements in the field of investment promotion and protection, which could contribute to the dialogue between companies, and also to encourage reinforced political consultations on bilateral and multilateral issues. We also recalled the strengthening of cooperation with the Israeli health sector, which develops advanced technologies also in the particularly innovative field of telemedicine. In the multilateral context, both have recognized their convergence on top issues of the international agenda and their commitment to constant dialogue. Afterwards, Ambassador Eydar was received in audience by the officers Exc.mi Captains Regent, Francesco Mussoni and Giacomo Simoncini and introduced by the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs. In his speech, Beccari recalled the excellent state of bilateral relations and read the message received by the highest institutions from the Honorable Liliana Segre, who recently became an Honorary Citizen of the Republic of San Marino. The Senator intended to recall the role played by the Titan in protecting many Jews during the Second World War and expressed deep gratitude for the high privilege granted to her. Touching was the historical re-enactment of the Jewish people, carried out by the Ambassador, deeply involved in the lecture, and who in the celebration of the Day of Remembrance, wanted to recall the episodes of anti-Semitism, which culminated in the devastation produced by the Holocaust; episodes still widely recognizable at the multilateral level and in the relationship between states. The Day of Remembrance was also at the center of the intervention of the Captains Regent, which focused on the role played by the Republic in the last century in support of many Jewish refugees in the territory, expressing heartfelt gratitude for the generous manifestation of solidarity offered by the Israeli to the Republic in occasion of the pandemic crisis. After the Audience, the Ambassador was accompanied in procession to the Jewish Ghetto, where he placed a commemorative wreath and read, together with HE the Bishop, some Psalms in the two languages, Italian and Hebrew. At the end of the morning, Ambassador Eydar visited the exhibition “Numismatics of the Holocaust term”, curated by dr. Roberto Ganganelli and inaugurated today at the new Museum of Stamps and Money in San Marino.
