On the occasion of the Day of Remembrance on January 27, the State Police is committed to commemorating the Shoah, as a testimony of the strong bond that has binded it to the Jewish community for years. To give more incisiveness to social communication throughout the week, the covers of the Facebook, instagram and twitter pages of the State Police are dedicated to the memory of the victims of the holocaust with a suggestive photo that immortalizes the highest symbol of the sacrifice of which they were victims. Jews or the stumbling blocks. This is to reinforce the value of remembrance as a warning against repeating the crimes of Nazi-fascism. Every day there will also be posts on what happened and in memory of the policemen who sacrificed their lives to save those of thousands of Jews, one of them Giovanni Palatucci. Declared Righteous among the Nations, awarded the gold medal for civil merit in 1995, the then Regent Chief of Rijeka saved the lives of thousands of Jews by rescuing them from deportation. To reflect on the origins of Nazi theories, a post brought attention to the largest Fake news in Jewish history, that is, the legend of the worldwide Jewish conspiracy, used by Hitler as the ideological basis of Nazism and as a move for the extermination of Jews. The commitment of the State Police is also recognized beyond the national ones: last November, in fact, the European Association of Jewish Communities awarded the Chief of Police – Director General of Public Security Prefect Lamberto Giannini borders the “King Prize David ”, for his intense work of protection of Jewish communities. During the current week in the area there were numerous initiatives dedicated to the topic. In the city of Novara on January 23, the “Run for Mem, the Race of Memory towards the future” took place, organized by the Union of Italian Jewish Communities, UCEI, in a journey through the places of memory that saw the participation of athletes of the Fiamme Oro Sports Group. On 25 January, stumbling blocks were placed at the police headquarters in Trieste to commemorate the policemen who, in opposition to Nazi laws, saved the lives of numerous Jews destined for deportation. The stumbling blocks were dedicated to the memory of Commissioner Giovanni Palatucci and Commissioner Feliciano Ricciardelli deported in 1944 to the concentration camp of Dachau. Today, a stumbling block will be placed at the Aosta Police Headquarters in memory of Commissioner Camillo Renzi who also died in the Dachau concentration camp.
