Prague – coalition TOGETHER: Pirates and Prague Are afraid of the return of the past
The leadership of the Prague ODS, TOP 09 and KDU-ČSL confirmed their alliance for the elections on Tuesday by signing memoranda, which created the Prague variant of the TOTAL coalitionin which the parties went together to the autumn parliamentary elections.
TOP 09 and the People’s Party thus basically exchanged the STAN movement, which they ran for the last time together as the United Forces for Prague, for the ODS. The new coalition makes no secret of its ambition to win the election and occupy the mayor’s chair. But the question may be with whom it could form a joint coalition.
So far, it seems that at least the parties of the current municipal coalition are not rushing into such an alliance. Jiří Pospíšil at the signing of the memorandum push, that he would not oppose the formation of the same “five-party coalition” that forms the current government.
Efforts to return to power
According to the Pirates, behind the new alliance is mainly the ODS’s efforts to return to power. “I personally don’t think it will work for them. I don’t know who I want to join the coalition with, because their only partner is YES. Nobody wants to go from the current coalition with the ODS, “Viktor Mahrik, the chairman of the pirate representatives at the municipality, told TN.cz. STAN Deputy Chairman Stanislav Polčák spoke earlier about the possible cooperation of his own party with ANO.
Leader of Prague To himself and the mayor of Prague 7 Jan Čižinský he hopes that after the elections, coalitions of people will emerge who are looking for a concrete solution instead of constant ideological arguments and conspiracies. “As far as the TOTAL coalition is concerned, it should be We cooperate well with the current representatives from TOP 09. Just Mr. Pospíšil has been a member of the opposition since 2018“He remarked to the address of the head of Prague’s TOP 09, who sought an alliance with the ODS.
“Clever burner”
According to Čižinský, it will in any case depend on who appears on the candidate, mainly for the ODS. “Our conscience is not our voters would not forgive us for working with people who are associated with the dark politics of the pasti, which moved Prague away from modern European capitals. Unfortunately, at the moment, it seems that these people not only still control the Prague ODSbut they even strengthen their influence in it, “he added.
Deputy Mayor and Chairman of the Prague STAN Petr Hlubuček also had a comment on the actions of Jiří Pospíšil, which has negotiated with TOP 09 in recent weeks on possible joint coalitions. According to him, sacrificing 4 years of the current coalition cooperation and the effort to change the leadership of Prague. “Unfortunately, the chairman of the Prague TOP09 has never been very involved in the activities of the municipality, namely nor within the United Forces Club, gradually losing the trust of its own party members“Points out that Pospíšila last year replaced Pavel Richter (TOP 09) at the head of the representative club.
“Now Pospíšil has apparently decided to play the role of a clever burner, when after 4 years of TOP09 participation in the government in the capital he preferred to join the opposition ODS,He added. According to him, the mayors are ready to go to the elections independently with the involvement of independent personalities in the candidate.
We want to repeat the electoral success
According to Jiří Pospíšil, he was The main impetus for the formation of the TOTAL coalition in Prague was the great success that this formation had in the parliamentary elections and “it would be a sin not to build on this success,” he said. However, he wants to continue his cooperation with STAN after the elections. “Program overlay TOP 09 and ODS is larger than TOP 09 and STAN,” He stated that they eventually prevailed and elected a coalition with the ODS and the People’s Party.
Nothing specific
At the same time, in recent weeks, there may be a possible continuation of the United Forces for Prague project. The negotiations took place. On what she went bankrupt, Pospíšil only indicated that STAN TOPce he offered nothing specific.
“STAN did not make an offer on the table voted by the regional committee, but it was such a promise, “ mentioned. It is only through the media that he learned that STAN would offer them the position of leader of the candidate – but without his own choice. Both sides would have to agree. This was previously stated for Blesk.cz by Stanislav Polčák, who, like Pospíšil, is an MEP.
Jiří Pospíšil also pointed out that, according to him, a large part of STAN members, represented for example by the Deputy Mayor of Prague 6 and MP Jan Lacina, wanted STAN to go to the elections independently. He stressed, however, that it was definitely break in the wrong. “Our cooperation with STAN has been a number of things positive. Human it worked“Pospíšil added earlier for Blesk.
