New talks with Russia are good news
The good news is that the representative is the only one to meet in Berlin in two weeks. That means at least the next few weeks Russia is on the diplomatic track, Kuleba told the press in Copenhagen on Thursday.
The day before, senior Russian and Ukrainian officials met in Paris. Representatives from France and Germany were also present.
On the occasion of Kuleba’s visit to Denmark, Foreign Minister Jeppe Kofod (S) announced that they will provide NOK 550 million to Ukraine over the next four years to support democratic reforms and the fight against corruption. Georgia also receives financial support.
“In this way, we can strengthen the country’s resilience at a time when Russia is continuing with its completely unheard-of build-up of troops inside and outside Ukraine’s borders,” Kofod said in a press release.
Russia has around 100,000 soldiers at the border with Ukraine. NATO, the EU and the US are among those who fear that Russia is planning a major offensive and invasion – something that is rejected by Russian authorities.
Recently, there have been negotiations between the United States and Russia in an attempt to find a situation.
During the visit to Denmark, Kuleba will attend an audience with Queen Margrethe and Crown Prince Frederik. He will also meet Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen (S).
