Moldova ranks 29th in Europe in terms of Covid-19 infections
The Republic of Moldova ranks 30th in Europe with an incidence of 642 infections per 100,000 people, the European average being 1,357. In 2022, the number of infections has increased considerably, as have daily tests.
At the top of the ranking is Denmark with over 4,000 infected and France, which exceeds 3,000. Romania has an incidence of 633, and Ukraine – 280 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
In the third week of 2022, we have a 2.5-fold increase in the number of cases of infection. Currently, there are 38,135 people infected with the new coronavirus in Moldova. The number of patients in serious and extremely serious condition reached 221.
Out of 16 sequenced tests, maximum possible at the moment, 13 are Omicron variants and three Delta variants. The share of the Omicron variant increases, and according to estimates or a third of those tested are infected with the Omicron variant.
At the same time, the first case of Flurona was registered in the Republic of Moldova. It is about a five-year-old child who was diagnosed with Covid-19 and the flu at the same time.
Only the districts of Edineț, Briceni, Șoldănești, Dondușeni, Cantemir and Ștefan-Vodă are in yellow code. The others are in red. The worst situation is in Chisinau, followed by Anenii Noi, Ialoveni and Glodeni.
The vaccination process in recent weeks has been growing but slow. Most citizens were vaccinated in Chisinau, Soroca and Dubasari.
The total number of cases of infection with the new coronavirus reached 423,568 in the Republic of Moldova. In total, since the beginning of the pandemic, 10,584 people have died due to complications caused by coronavirus.
