Liverpool transfer news: Takumi Minamino advanced by Leeds and Monaco dismissed; Atalanta Divock Origin Instructor | Transfer Center News
Liverpool have rejected early approaches from Leeds and Monaco for striker Takumi Minamino.
The Japan international has played 18 games this season but only six of them have started and four of them have come in the Carabao Cup.
However, despite interest from the Ligue 1 club and fellow Premier League side, the PA News Agency understands that Liverpool refused both.
While Minamino is well behind Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota in the pecking order, Jurgen Klopp’s side are still in four competitions – they have a League Cup final against Chelsea in a month – is it believed that there is no real desire to offload the 27-year-old.
It would take a sizable offer for them to be persuaded to consider allowing the player, signed from RB Salzburg in January 2020 for £7.25m, to leave.
Atalanta are also reportedly considering striker Divock Origi a serious option if their Newcastle-linked Colombia international Duvan Zapata moves to the Premier League.
There has been no formal approach from Liverpool yet, but it could be a move that will please the Belgium striker, in a World Cup year, who has scored five goals in 11 appearances this season despite struggling for field time.
‘Liverpool won’t let Minamino go unless he gets a serious offer’
SSN Chief Reporter Kaveh Solhekol on ‘The Transfer Show’:
“Minamino is a player who hasn’t played regularly, he’s only started six games this season, four of them in the Carabao Cup, but Liverpool’s thought is that we’re still in four competitions and we don’t want to let him. leave unless we get a serious offer.
“They are still very firm on the transfer market, they still get good prices for the players they sell and they stick to their valuation with Minamino. »
