Krejčíková and Siniaková are in the grand slam final, they can compete with legends
Tennis players Barbora Krejčíková and Kateřina Siniaková advanced to the doubles finals at the Australian Open just like last year. The tournament number one defeated the third-placed Belgian Elise Mertens and Russia’s Veronika Kuděrmětová 6: 2 and 6: 3 in the semifinals in Melbourne.

In the fight for their fourth grand slam title and the first in Australia, they will face the surprise of the tournament in Sunday’s final – with the Brazilian-Kazakh couple Beatriz Haddad Maia and Anna Danilinová.
Last year, Siniaková and Krejčíková lost the doubles to Mertensová, who was playing in a pair with the Belarusian Aryna Sabalenková. This year’s semifinals were started by the Czech pair with a break in the first game of the match and the first set was clear. In the second, the Olympic winners from Tokyo played 1: 3, winning five games in a row, developing the sets and rejoicing in the advance in an hour and eleven minutes.
Krejčíková was fried by the Australian heat. The progression to seven remained distant
“Thank you for the great atmosphere and it’s great that we are in the finals. We had to go through several difficult matches to get there. I am proud of us and we are looking forward to it,” Krejčíková said in an interview on the court. “I feel great, we play great. We push our opponents to play to the limit. I’m excited to be in the finals again and hopefully I’ll play better than last year,” Siniak wished.
“In the finals, it is important to be the best and before the performance, which we will try. We already have a lot of great last matches and we are a good team,” said Siniaková.
Cowards of Australians? They let themselves be dictated by the Chinese, Navrátilová said angrily
The doubles world number one Siniaková and the number two Krejčíková together won three grand slam titles, twice succeeding at Roland Garros (2018 and 2021) and once at Wimbledon (2018).
Lucie Šafářová, who celebrated in 2017 with the American Bethania Matteková-Sandsová, last won the doubles title at the Australian Open from the Czech Republic. The Czech couple won the competition only once, Jana Novotná and Helena Suková did it 32 years ago.
