In Munich with Sky star Nele Schenker – restart for rowing giant Ocik – sports mix
New boat, new city, new love!
For rowing master Hannes Ocik (30), everything will be different in 2022. The Rostocker moved to Munich at the beginning of the year, daring to make a new start there, both sportingly and privately. Ocik: “I feel good. The training conditions are great. It’s progressing step by step.”
For eight years he set the number of strokes in the Germany eight, won Olympic silver in 2016 in Rio and 2021 in Tokyo and three world titles. After the Tokyo Games, he got out of the flagship. Ocik: “The right time to set a new stimulus.”
To do this, the rowing giant is switching from the oar to the skull area (with two oars) and training on the Isar with one-time world champion Oliver Zeidler (25). Ocik enthuses: “Olli is one of the five strongest rowers in the world. I would like to cut a slice from him physically and technically.”
Ocik is also doing privately: the police chief has been in a relationship with Sky presenter Nele Schenker (31) since the summer. After a love vacation in the Maldives, the couple moved together in Munich. Ocik: “Sport is always an issue for us. Nele used to be an athlete. She is very committed to training and nutrition. Your assessment is important to me.”
In terms of sport, Ocik will recommend himself for the double four in 2022 and qualify for the home European Championship in Munich. Long-term goal: “Olympics 2024.”
