Eric Dupont-Moretti says he is “worried”
The Minister of Justice Eric Dupond-Moretti was on the move this Thursday in Perpignan where an LREM deputy was attacked by anti-vaccine pass last Saturday. He also spoke about the recent escapes from Toulouse psychiatric units of patients described as dangerous.
In eight days in Toulouse, three people taken care of in psychiatric units escaped. The latest runaway took place on January 27: it lasted six hours. The patient was arrested in the city center in the middle of the afternoon. This man is known to have hit three students with his car in 2017 in Blagnac.
Last Wednesday, a cannibalistic murderer in transit at Marchant Hospital had already escaped and assaulted an old cottager lady. Four days later, a patient from the same hospital had fled before being caught on the road to Seysse.
“There are a number of failures”
Situations considered worrying by the Minister of Justice Eric-Dupont Moretti: “Naturally, it worries the Minister of Justice that I am like that worries all of our compatriots. I regret this situation, like everyone else, but what do you want me to tell you? It will be appropriate to _derive a number of measurements from these breakouts_. When it comes to criminal irresponsibility, he leaves the perimeter of justice to enter the perimeter of medicine and psychiatry. But there are a number of shortcomings. Obviously, I think the Minister of Health has taken the measure of these questions. I spoke with him and I think we will look at it very, very precisely.”
Eric Dupont-Moretti clarified: “We cannot allow this kind of situation to continue. There is a form of series law, a succession on a particular establishment which gives us some concerns and we are going to do everything to resolve them. We we’re on the job, of course.”
