Churches of Saint-Eustache, Saint-Sulpice… The – City of Paris
Churches, Protestant temples, synagogues, sculptures, organs… The religious and historical heritage of Paris is characterized by its number and diversity. Every year, work is undertaken to maintain this common heritage. Some projects, such as that of the Church of the Madeleine or that of the Church of the Holy Trinity, will last several years. Others will be spread over a few months, or even end within a year. Overview of what awaits religious buildings in 2022.
Restoration of the Saint-Eustache entrance massif (Paris Centre)
Once restored, the massive entrance to the church will resume its role as the main entrance. The sculpted elements, masonry, roofing and stained glass windows of the facade dating from 1754 will be restored to their full brilliance.

A ramp will be installed to guarantee accessibility for everyone in the church.

The south portal of Saint-Sulpice (6and)
Some remember it, a fire had occurred at the Saint-Sulpice church in 2019. Hence the need to restore the entrance door, the wooden airlock and the stained glass window of the south facade.

The masonry of Saint-Jean de Montmartre (18and)
Made of reinforced concrete in 1904, the Saint-Jean de Montmartre church is one of the first of its kind. For restoration, it is necessary to test and develop restoration techniques before applying them to the whole building.
Duration of the first phase of the works: from March 2022 to January 2023
The consolidation of Sainte-Anne de la Butte-aux-Cailles (13and)
This operation will allow the stabilization and the restoration of this building, some parts of which are cracked, in particular by reinforcing the foundations of the building.
Duration of the works: from summer 2022 to summer 2025.
Whether they last several months or several years, construction sites always end up being completed. This year, no less than seven churches will be stripped of their scaffolding to rediscover the calm that characterizes them.
Paris is full of statues scattered in the public space. About twenty of them will be assigned to the good care of restorers to ensure their beauty and longevity.
At the same time, about sixty restorations will be granted on works of art present in religious buildings. Because the latter are also under the responsibility of the City of Paris. Wall paintings, paintings, lights, stained glass, liturgical furniture and woodwork, pieces of goldsmithery: many skills will be needed to restore these works to their original appearance.
