Budapest Central European Fashion Week will take place at the beginning of February this year
“We have made a strategic decision when we organize Budapest Central European Fashion Week almost a month earlier in order to get the Hungarian fashion industry more involved in the international professional circulation and to strengthen the international position of the event,” Bata quotes MDDÜ in a statement on Thursday. Jakab Zsófia is the CEO.
“International resellers and distributors of the early date of the BCEFW Pre-Fall Collection will be able to learn about the defining pieces of the new collection earlier this season, strengthening our sales promotion target as a significant portion of the budget is not yet committed during this period,” he added.
It recalls that during the fall BCEFW, 4,000 people came from Europe, the Middle East and the Americas, among others, and a similarly diverse audience is expected to attend the event this year.
Catwalk shows featuring the fall winter collections of 2022/23 were held at the Royal Riding School on Friday and at the Museum of Fine Arts on Saturdays and Sundays. From the 19 Hungarian and 2 Polish designers, the audience can see ten sets each.
According to the announcement, in addition to the presentations, a number of “side events” await those interested in various parts of Budapest, as well as a virtual shop where seasonal pieces of contemporary designers can be obtained online during the event.
The Deák Palace on Fashion Street is chosen as an accompaniment by an exhibition of 5 brands, while the Museum of Fine Arts is chosen by an exhibition of 7 brands, including brands designing various accessories and jewelery.
As the announcement reads, sustainability is also reflected in the BCEFW program, where more and more fashion brands are using zero waste, patchwork and other environmentally conscious methods to operate ethically.
“As an industry advocacy and collective advocacy organization, MDDÜ regularly implements BCEFW to provide a platform for the presentation of the collections of Hungarian regional designers, and calls on the profession and the press for Hungarian talent, which is one of the Agency’s main strategic goals,” they write.
In addition to the events, in-person attendance and fashion shows will be available online on BCEFW’s official Facebook page and TikTok channel.
As in the previous year, the Agency will offer the amount received from the ticket value to the Ecumenical Relief Organization this year as well. This amount was HUF 2 million last year.
More information about the event can be read on the website of the Budapest Fashion Week.
