Aki Lindé appointed new Minister for Family and Basic Services News
The SDP has elected Aki Lindén as interim minister for family and basic services.
MP Who is Linden (SDP) has been elected as the new Interim Minister for Family and Basic Services. The SDP council decided on the minister Krista Kiurusubstitute at his meeting this afternoon.
In a post-election press conference, Lindén stated that the parable of jumping on a moving train seemed like a correct description of replacing Kiuru.
The responsibilities of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health currently include managing Covid, implementing the SOTE reform after the provincial elections, and numerous legislative projects, such as the health care guarantee proposal.
Kiuru also became known as an advocate of strict Covid restrictions in situations where the rest of the government supported less stringent policies. Lindén, who replaces Kiuru, does not comment on whether he is also in favor of a tougher line.
“I’m not going to get on the axis of a tough liberal. I’m somewhere in the middle. After all, the situation is decisive.”
Lindén estimates that the situation in Covid is currently reaching an epidemic on the plateau and that the current situation may allow restrictions to be lifted.
“I have the impression that the restrictions can be removed to some extent,” Lindén said.
prime minister Sanna Marin, said Linde was a clear choice for Kiuru ‘s job when she heard about the minister’ s parental leave. Marin said he wanted to let Lindén focus on the provincial election and only contacted him about the task this week.
Lindén, 69, is a Member of Parliament from Turku. He has a doctorate in medicine and a master’s degree in political science.
He has previously worked as the director of the Hospital District of Southwest Finland and as the CEO of the Hospital District of Helsinki and Uusimaa.
