Toulouse: Repeated arrests: Place Arnaud-Bernard in the viewfinder
The police are not letting up the pressure around Place Arnaud-Bernard where traffic of all kinds is causing nuisance.
Residents of Place Arnaud-Bernard have been exhausted for months. Drug trafficking of all kinds, cigarettes but also “mobile dance” to steal phones, they denounce nuisance and incivility on a daily basis.
A local crime treatment group has been set up. This issue has been made a priority. Last week, no respite was given to troublemakers by the national police. Right Bank urban security investigators, public road personnel whether on foot or static patrol, but also municipal police officers have particularly targeted their interventions around this sensitive place.
Aided by the images filmed by the video surveillance cameras of the city of Toulouse and the police officers of the BAC in discreet surveillance, they carried out, every day, operations aimed at “making insecure and destabilizing” the traffickers.
Sellers but also consumers
In five days, around twenty people were checked and arrested, including seven for cigarettes or narcotics. Two of them were imprisoned pending their fate. Two are being summoned to court in the coming weeks. A dozen buyers of drugs or cigarettes as well as consumers caught in the act were fined fixed amounts of €200.
In total, many bars of cannabis resin, packets of cigarettes but also cash or a tear gas canister were seized.
The police promise to “not release the pressure” on this district.
