Tragic images were recorded in Athena and specifically in Zografou areawhere three men were desperately trying to carry coffin with dead into snowy roads with blanket.

The video from the group “Menoume Zografou” has made the rounds of social media and shows the big problems caused in Athens by the bad weather “Elpis”.

One of the three men trying to move the coffin appears to be slipping on the snowy road twice in a matter of seconds.

Municipality of Zografou: A private funeral office undertook the transfer without informing

Ethnos.gr contacted the Deputy Mayor of Finance and the Deputy Mayor of Zografou, Theodoros Metikaridis, who explained that the Municipality was unaware of the transfer of the deceased. “They have nothing to do with the municipal service,” he told us about the images. “A private funeral office undertook to transport the deceased without informing the competent service of the Municipality. No assistance was requested from the family of the deceased, if it was requested that we had gladly given, as all these days we transport, with our cars, citizens to the hospitals to do dialysis. The road on which the incident unfolded is a small road of the Municipality which, indeed, is currently inaccessible. With the snowplows available by the Municipality of Zografou, but also a Bobcat of the Region, we have to clean and open central roads of the Municipality. The smaller ones will be open until tomorrow “.
