The meeting of the General Commissioner of the San Marino Pavilion Filippo Francini with Amina Ying Ma, Director of the World Expo Museum Pavilion
Once again Expo proves to be the ideal scenario for San Marino to renew and consolidate relations with countries and world institutions such as the one with the World Expo Museum in Shanghai, the only official documentation center entirely dedicated to the Expo and authorized by the BIE , the intergovernmental organization responsible for overseeing and regulating international exhibitions and promoting their core values of education, innovation and cooperation. In this scenario, the welcome in the San Marino Pavilion by the General Commissioner Filippo Francini of Amina Ying Ma, Executive Director of the World Expo Museum Pavilion, was inserted after being in turn hosted in their exhibition space by the two archival Coordinators Mengya Jin and Yadan Li. An exchange of significant visits that made it possible to recall the legacy of the Universal Expositions and the great importance they have for the countries. Inside the Pavilion of the World Expo Museum, whose permanent seat is located in the former location of Expo 2010 in Shanghai, a thematic and chronological journey through time and space is proposed, retracing the history of civilization from the middle of Nineteenth century, when the first Expo took place in London in 1851 up to the present day. The Pavilion of the World Expo Museum represents more than a simple collection of artifacts: architecture and contents have in fact been combined in the exhibition space to create a great idea of nations meeting other nations in a shared progress and commercial with the aim of using the results of these relationships that turn into ideas, innovations and tourist and commercial promotion. San Marino participated for the first time in a Universal Exposition in 1878 in Paris thanks to the financial support offered by Duke De Bruc, an official at the French government, who made it clear to the San Marino authorities how important it was, for a small state like the Republic, be present at the Exposition and have the opportunity to exchange views with major countries. As more added by the Director Amina Ying Ma, for the Expo Museum it is essential to document the participation of all States, especially the oldest members such as that of San Marino, which took place before many great ones. In particular, Amina has preserved the memorable presence of San Marino at Expo 2010 Shangay, with the reproduction of the Statue of Liberty, as the main attraction of the pavilion which was so successful that, at the end of the Expo, the San Marino government, on requested by the Chinese one, he donated the monument to China in order to exhibit it permanently in the entrance foyer of the Expo Museum. At the meeting, the Commissioner General Filippo Francini donated at the closing of the management the issue of the official stamp of San Marino’s participation in Expo 2020 Dubai which depicts the eagle-shaped fibula embellished with a gold-like foil, emblem of the Domagnano Treasury and the jug handmade by the artisans of the Barbó Ceramics Laboratory in limited edition for Expo 2020 Dubai. In turn, Amina Ying Ma paid homage to the official book of the World Expo Museum which contains the image of the Statue of Liberty exhibited in Shanghai and a personal dedication to the Republic by the Director. The General Commissioner of the San Marino Pavilion Filippo Francini comments: “I thank the director Amina Ying Ma for the visit and the welcome gift. These cultural exchanges greatly enrich our country and are part of a very solid diplomatic relationship that we are sure to carry forward with renewed esteem. Just last year, the 50th anniversary of the Diplomatic Relations between the Republic of San Marino and the People’s Republic of China was celebrated. An important milestone that was transferred during the visit with the delegation of the Expo Museum “.
