Monaco fined 4 times more than Nice for “not wearing a mask”
On January 24, Monegasque public security published its 2021 activity report. Among the data, a high number of reports drawn up for non-compliance with health rules.
A total of 9,127 fines were issued in this context, “mainly for not wearing a mask”. A ratio of 0.23 PV compared to the number of residents in the principality (38,100 souls).
By way of comparison, “22,500 verbalizations were drawn up last year on Covid subjects” in Nice, noted the local boss of the RN, Philippe Vardon, in an interview with Nice-Presse on January 19. Or 0.06 per inhabitant (345,000). The capital of the Côte d’Azur was therefore fined 4 times less than the Principality.
Checks carried out at Monegasque restaurants have resulted in 29 administrative closures.
low crime
In 2021, 761 acts of general delinquency were reported within the city-state.
“It’s less than one fact per week. This contributes to the feeling of security” specifies Richard Marangoni, Comptroller General in charge of the Department of Public Security.
The Supervision and Operational Command Center, which manages the network of video protection cameras, received 9,112 emergency calls.
An increase of 17% compared to 2020, of course. But “the curve of delinquency has a clear propensity to bend for more than a decade” he notes.
Burglaries have dropped from 60 in 2020 to just 48 in 2021.
