Lavrov: Foreign Ministry pays special attention to supporting the Russian language abroad
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs pays increased attention to the promotion of the Russian language abroad, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said at the “Hour of Representatives” in the State Duma on January 26.
According to him, the development of a state program to support and encourage the Russian language abroad is nearing completion. “This is a fairly serious, radical document that defines the authority to coordinate the efforts of all our technical structures that … are taking place, not always until recently, who does what, by promoting time in Russian in the international arena,” Lavrov said.

The Russian language is popularized by many Russian structures and organizations, including Rossotrudnichestvo and the Russkiy Mir Foundation. The state program will help coordinate violence and a similar integrated approach in this industry, the head of the Foreign Ministry is sure.
According to Lavrov, the program allows not to scatter funds and will increase the chances of additional funding. Now the amount of funding for this area in Russia is significantly lower than in other countries that promote the national language.
