From the theft of valuables in Siena to the discovery of drugs in L’Aquila: 3 arrests
Three people, a couple and his mother, were arrested in L’Aquila by the State Police for detention for the purpose of drug dealing. The drug, about 2 kg of marijuana and over 1 and a half kg of hashish, was found in their L’Aquila home by policemen from the Mobile Squads of the Siena and L’Aquila Police Headquarters during a search for a theft committed in Siena.
Last September a 78-year-old woman had been robbed of her most precious jewels in her home in Siena.
Immediately afterwards she turned to the men of the Sienese Mobile Squad, declaring the value of the stolen goods over 300,000 euros.
From the first investigations carried out, it immediately became clear to the investigators that the main suspect in the theft was the elderly woman’s domestic worker, a 40-year-old of Sinhalese origins, who, on that very day, a Sunday morning, had lost his track.
Having ascertained the unjustified and unannounced absence of the servant (who lives in her own house), the woman’s first thought was for her own valuables, kept inside a wardrobe inside a special container.
A quick check to confirm his fears: the caregiver had fled with all the jewels.
The attempts to trace him to the lady and, subsequently, to the policemen of the Mobile Squad of Siena were useless.
A complex investigation has, however, made it possible to ascertain, in addition to the serious clues against the Sinhalese, the decisive participation in the theft of a couple of Italian accomplices residing in the province of L’Aquila, respectively 28 and 34 years old, dealing with the logistics part of the criminal act and, in particular, of encouraging the escape of the 40-year-old – still untraceable – and, in all probability, of hiding the stolen goods.
Yesterday, the investigators of the Mobile Squad of the Siena Police Headquarters, assisted by colleagues from the Flying Squad of L’Aquila, carried out the home search of the suspected team, during which important evidence directly attributable to the theft was found, such as telephones. cell phones used that day in Siena.
The in-depth research inside the house made it possible to surprise the woman as she tried to hide 12 bags, containing narcotic substance like marijuana, and 5 sticks of hashish hidden inside a cooler.
Immediately the two and his 63-year-old mother, who lives with them, were arrested in flagrant crime.
Further investigations will continue, in the meantime, for the theft committed in Siena, with respect to which there is already a strong evidence framework.
