Coronavirus: Shock with 115 dead and 17,960 new cases today in Greece
The National Organization of Public Health (EODY) on Wednesday afternoon (26/01) that the laboratory confirmed new cases of coronavirus is 17,960, of which 66 were located after checks of the country’s entrance gates. At week 17-23 / 1, the total number of patients aged 4-18 is 43,156, accounting for 33% (32% from the previous week) of all cases.
The total number of cases amounts to 1,848,223 (daily change + 1.0%), of which 49.8% are men. Based on the confirmed cases of the last 7 days, 381 are considered related to travel from abroad and 1,372 are related to an already known case.
The Rt for the territory based on the cases is estimated at 0.95 (95% DE: 0.86 – 1.05).
Performing a test
In the last 24 hours, 16,260 molecular tests and 173,940 rapid tests were performed. In total 190,200 the positivity is estimated at 9.44%.
The cases today in Attica
In Attica today, 26/1/2022, 5,037 new cases were identified according to EODY. The distribution of cases in Attica today is as follows:

The new deaths of patients with COVID-19 are 115, while since the beginning of the epidemic a total of 22,970 deaths have been recorded. 95.0% had underlying meaning and / or age 70 years and older.
The number of patients treated intubated is 646 (60.2% men). Their median age is 66 years. 82.7% have underlying meaning and / or age 70 years and over. Among intubated patients, 518 (80.19%) are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated and 128 (19.81%) are fully vaccinated. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 3,993 patients have been discharged from the ICU.
The admission of new Covid-19 patients to the hospitals of the territory is 395 (daily change -8.56%). The average seven-day admission is 462 patients.

In the week 17-23 / 1, the positivity rate was 5.69% in a total of 2,314,251 laboratory tests (RT-PCR / Rapid-Ag) and 1.62% in a total of 2,758,005 self-diagnostic tests.
