Bafana striker Bafana Lebo Mothiba loaned to ESTAC Troyes
Bafana Bafana striker Lebo Mothiba looks set to complete a loan spell across France as he continues his comeback from a lengthy injury.
Earlier this month, Mothiba made his first Ligue 1 appearance for Strasbourg in February 2020 after being sidelined for almost two years with consecutive knee, hip and hamstring injuries.
The 25-year-old missed 40 games for his club while out of action before completing his long-awaited comeback in the 1-0 loss to Montpellier in the Coupe de France.
Mothiba has since made another league appearance for Strasbourg but now looks set to be loaned out for the rest of the season to get more minutes under his belt.
According to the French publication, The Team, the former LOSC Lille star is set to join fellow Ligue 1 side ESTAC Troyes on loan this week on a deal that will run until the end of the current season.
This appears to have been confirmed by Mothiba on Tuesday when he posted an image of himself on a train on his Twitter account, before answering a question about his destination with the caption “-> Troyes”.
Troyes – once the home of the late Anele Ngcongca – currently sits 16th in the Logs standings after being promoted to Ligue 2 champions in the 2020/21 season.
Mothiba is reportedly under contract with Strasbourg until June 2023 and the clubs haven’t included a purchase option in the deal for the striker’s services.
