A huge indoor picture is created in Berlin
A huge indoor picture is to be created in Berlin in the coming weeks. The artist Peter Lindenberg will realize the canvas painting with the title “Rien ne va plus…!?” (Nothing works anymore) in the coming weeks. Since Wednesday, the work can be seen in its creation in a pop-up gallery on Wittenbergplatz. The work is expected to be completed by February 10th.
The giant image deals with digital media reality
The 360 square meter panorama image takes a critical look at today’s digital media reality. At a width of 120 meters and a height of three meters, artist Lindenberg will draw attention to the subject with many details. “I would like to transfer the virtuality of the media back into the reality of experience for the visitors and make it possible to experience it again in a sensual and visual way with oversized drawings, sketches and collages,” said Lindenberg.
The acrylic and charcoal drawing shows his personal memories of real places such as the Great Wall of China, which Lindenberg connects with sequences from the film’s history. Combined with wishes and concerns, a kind of head cinema should be created.
“Sometimes the motifs get mixed up within the drawing. I also try to reflect the opposites of the world that come together in my head,” said Lindenberg. The artist frequently works with most of the large format paintings and sculptures that can be seen in exhibitions and collections in Europe, USA and China.
